Hiya, folks!
Went to the Out of this World exhibit yesterday at the Museum of Natural History and thought I would post a few photos.
 |
| Collecibles! |
On the way in, they have a pretty cool set up of just various toys and collectibles related to some of the movie and TV show props on the inside. I wanted all of the Batman things but this giant plastic dome kept me from stealing anything.. or everything.
 |
| Indy's Jacket! |
This jacket was once worn by Harrison Ford who coincidentally probably has the most movies with memorabilia in this showcase. Indiana Jones, Star Wars and Blade Runner were all a part of this event. If only Harrison Ford was able to show up and introduce everything with his intense stare and mumble-voice.
 |
| Stormtrooper Helmet and Gun |
Pretty great. Alaina noted that the helmet has probably seen better days, which is funny considering you can buy replicas that are higher quality than the original probably looked in the first place. You can see some paint chipping off and some general wear and tear. Granted, the helmet is approximently 35 years old.
 |
| "Nooooooo!!" |
Upon further inspection, I didn't realize that Darth Vader had lettering on his chest plate that Alaina thought may be Hebrew? (I checked online and that appears to be the common consensus) Kind of blown away that I was this close to one of the greatest screen villains of all time.. before Lucas kind of turned him into a bit of a pussy in the prequels.
While this version of Robin probably ruined a lot of people's image of The Boy Wonder
 |
| Batman! |
Of all the Batman suits they could have, they had to acquire the one from
Batman & Robin.. the
WORST of the movies. However, today, I didn't care. I got to be within a foot of a real Batman suit! It took all my power not to smash the glass and steal it. However, it probably wouldn't have done me well to wear this thing as I very much doubt it would fit. Also, that would be committing a crime. The
real Batman would find me and break my ankles.
 |
| The Boy Wonder! |
Robin. Yep.
 |
| "Next time someone asks if you're a God Ray, you say YES" |
Now, this was awesome. Akryod's costume from Ghostbusters II! Ghostbusters II being the earliest movie I can ever remember seeing at
The Drive-In. Also, Vigo scared the ever loving crap out of me as a kid. Actually, he probably still scares me. I haven't watched it in a while but I may not be able to stare at the screen when I see him.
