"Hey, Ryan, this is your girlfriend and I'm mad."

I have no idea how I waited this long to watch The Office.

I took the day off of work yesterday due to an illness and spent the entire day watching the 2nd season of "The Office". I've never laughed so much during a sitcom in quite some time, as much as I enjoy 30 Rock (and I really enjoy 30 Rock). It's hard to even really single out any actor/character I like more than the other as its such a great ensemble cast, can't wait to watch more of it. I've only started the 2nd, so I've still got two more DVD sets to go through, so I'm quite happy.

Fort McMurray's "Winterplay" festival is going on this weekend, I think there are several one act plays going on tomorrow and I do enjoy one act plays, so I might check that out with Ash. I'm pretty sure there aren't any decent movies opening this weekend. Street Fighter is opening but that's not even really street fighter is it? Isn't just the story of one of the characters? Video game movies are never a good idea anyway (unless they remake Super Mario Brothers).

G'bye Late Night with Conan / Crazy Cold

So, it's currently -35 out. That's right, minus thirty-five and that's not counting the windchill. Apparently our province is currently split between snowstorms and a deep freeze. I used to be the person that preferred winter over summer as in the winter, if you're cold, you could throw on a sweater or get under a blanket. If you're battling humidity in the summer months, there isn't much you can do other than exist in a spot with A/C. It's almost March, so this crap weather should be over soon, I hope.

Watched a few movies on the weekend, "Choke" and "Flash of Genius". I'm not sure what it is about Greg Kinnear but I find the guy extremely likeable. "Flash of Genius" was much better than I expected considering it was a movie about windshield wipers. "Choke" however, was not all that great. I think I expected too much from a movie that was adapted from one of my favorite books. I'm finally one of those people who can say, "Oh, you liked that? Yeah, the book was better than the movie." Meh.

Conan's last show was last week. It was quite depressing, yet great. Depressing in the fact that no one really knows if Conan is going to change at all when he moves up an hour despite the fact that he promised he wouldn't. Great in the fact that he had Andy Richter show up and take part in the final show while they sat on the couch and watched clips. Among those clips, Conan would show "the favorite thing I've ever done". I don't know how much longer this will be up on youtube but here it is for your enjoyment.

Academy Awards/Fitness

The 81st Academy Awards are happening this evening and I once again find myself in the position where I haven't seen the majority of the best picture nominees. It's hard for me to judge the nominee list as I've only managed to take in "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" but I really think that Wall E should have been given one of those 5 spots.

In the last 7 years the award has been offered, Pixar has won 3 times (only two years have passed without a nomination) and I can guarantee a win this year. Obviously it says something about their work that they should at least be considered for Best Picture. I wonder if there is maybe some sort of rule I'm not aware of, perhaps the academy is fine with having them within their own little category. Either way, I'm hoping for a win for them.

I've been attending the gym on a regular basis as of late, I have not dropped any weight as of yet but I also haven't put any on. I lost quite a bit of weight last summer before our wedding and then decided to stop going to the gym for whatever reason and packed a bunch back on. My goal is to get down to somewhere between 200 and 210 as I'm currently tipping the scales at 240. Don't get me wrong, I'm not some sort of weight obsessed crazy person, I just want to be healthy. I know I can do it because I've done it before.

Eating is a hard one, trying to find recipes that are healthy and "tasty" is difficult. I barely know how to cook anything. Any ideas?

Planet Simpson and Travel

I think this might be the 10th time I've tried starting a blog somewhere else other than LJ. Usually I end up starting one up, then post a few random entries, then moving back over to LJ.

I've decided to use the best of both worlds, keep my LJ account for checking up on other blogs and moving my primary entries over to here. I do enjoy Blogger, it's been working pretty well for me over the past few months with my other blog, so I'm not one to complain at all. Anyway, onto some Brandon related news.

As you can all see over on the side bar, Ash and I are indeed coming home for a visit April 7th for a whole week. My nephew Nathan is the primary reason that we're coming home, so I'm pretty excited for that. It'll be nice to smell the salt water air and recharge my batteries due to nearly 8 straight months in "Oil Country" (not to mention the excellent Cape Breton cuisine).

I've also been invited to my company's 2009 sales congress in Edmonton. Should be a good time, I hope. This is my first foray into anything corporate with the company who employs me, I'm interested to see how it all plays out.

I started a new book not too long ago, "Planet Simpson: How a Cartoon Masterpiece Documented an Era and Defined a Generation". It's certainly an interesting read at times but for the most part, it's pretty exhausting. At times, I'm finding that the author seems to fly off on long-winded tangents that takes away from the humor and fun associated with the book and leaves me annoyed and bored. I'm determined to finish it however, as I'm at the very least halfway through. It's amazing that I've been watching that show for the majority of my life and after reading through this book, I've missed about 40% of the jokes (hey, I still laughed but I missed the real point of some of these segments). I had no idea that some of my favorite gags and moments were lampooning something else in the real world.

That's about it for now, we're just on the way out the door.
